Prince Harry shut down Meghan Markle split rumors amid divorce speculation


Prince Harry addressed speculation surrounding his marriage to Meghan Markle during a summit in New York on Tuesday.

Harry, 40, detailed a range of topics, including an interest in the royal's private life, during the 35-minute sit-down with columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin as part of The New York Times Dealbook Summit 2024 at the Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Talks of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's union peaked recently when the pair began appearing separately at events, with royal experts believing a divorce was imminent for the couple.

“I sent you to Google News and all the time there were people fascinated by everything you do. They're fascinated by Megan, who's in California right now, and you're here,” Sorkin said.

“There are articles left and right about, you know, why do you do independent events? Why don't you do them together?'

Prince Harry replied: “Since you invited me, you should have known.”

He added: “You should have known this was going to happen.”

When Sorkin asked if it was “good” that there was so much interest in the couple, Harry admitted that it was “definitely not good,” citing rumors he had heard about him and his wife.

“We've probably bought or moved house 10, 12 times,” he said. “Apparently we've been divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So it's just what?'

“It's hard to maintain, but so you just kind of ignore it. The people I feel sorry for the most are the trolls,” he said. “Their hopes just build and build and it's like, 'Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,' and then it doesn't happen. So I feel sorry for them. Honestly, I'm sorry.'

Kinsey Schofield, host of the To Di For Daily podcast, recently told Fox News Digital that it remains to be seen whether the Sussexes were working separately or working for separation.

“Last summer, Rolling Stone published the story, “Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are in their era of failure,” she explained. “The Sussexes haven't achieved anything significant since then. Are they technically still in their flop era?”

“I'm not going to applaud Prince Harry for successful networking … I have higher expectations than that,” she said. “But if we continue to see Prince Harry working away from Meghan after the new year, I think it's fair to discuss what a professional divorce means for the couple personally.”
