A A man from Massachusetts accused of murdering his wife and dismembering her body appeared in court for a hearing Monday afternoon when a judge set a trial date for October next year.
Anna Walsh, mother of three young children and real estate professional who works in Washington, DC, disappeared on New Year's Day 2023. and was reported missing a few days later. Her body was never recovered.
Prosecutors and investigators say her husband, Brian Walsh, killed 39-year-old Anna in January 2023 and misled the authorities about her disappearance.

Judge Diane Frenier on Monday set Walsh's trial date for Oct. 21, 2025. during a hearing held in Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham. The judge said he expected the trial to last no more than four weeks.
Walsh appeared in court on Monday he was wearing glasses, a blue suit with a navy tie and a white shirt, and his hands were shackled.

During the hearing, the defense asked that prosecutors investigate any potential police bias, given that the lead investigator in the Walshe case was Officer Michael Proctor, who was also a lead in The case of Karen Reedwhich ended in error after inappropriate texts of his came out during the testimony.
Proctor has since been suspended without pay after admitting to unprofessional conduct in the case, including disparaging comments about Read.
Prosecutors agreed to ask investigators whether they know of any records, such as emails or text messages from law enforcement officials, that would show bias when it comes to handling the Walshe case, and whether any information was lost or destroyed.

Walshe was charged in March 2023. on charges of first degree murder, misleading the police and improper transportation of a human body. He has pleaded not guilty to charges that he beat his wife to death in their Cohasset home, dismembered and disposed of her body.

Surveillance footage showed Walshe at Home Depot buying various items, including three mops and brushes, two splash-resistant goggles and a utility knife, which investigators believe he used to dispose of her body, according to court records.
Authorities also searched trash cans and dumpsters in areas where Brian Walsh traveled after Anna disappeared.

During the search for Anna, investigators found a hacksaw with a “small fragment of bone” in a dumpster across the street from Walsh's mother's house. Other evidence found in the container included Ana's COVID vaccination card, a Hermes watch and Gucci necklace she was wearing, Hunter boots, a black Prada bag and a short black coat, according to court records.

Walsh also allegedly used his son's iPad to make over a dozen Google searches in the days after his wife's disappearance centered around the disposal of a corpse, prosecutors said.
