The Union Cabinet on Friday approved the Rithala-Kundli corridor of the Delhi Metro Phase-IV project on Friday. The corridor is 26,463 km long and is planned to cost a total of 6,230 rupees. The corridor is expected to be completed within four years from the date of approval. Once operational, the corridor will extend Delhi Metro into Haryana, making it the fourth extension into the state. Delhi Metro currently serves Gurugram, Ballabhgarh and Bahadurgarh in Haryana.
Delhi Metro Red Line
The red line is running between Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) and Rithala. The expansion of the corridor is set to improve connectivity in areas northwest of the national capital, including areas such as Narela, Bawana and parts of Rohini. The expansion will include a total of 21 rising stations along the route.
At the end of the Rithala-Narela-Nathupur corridor will connect the Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda station in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh to Nathupur in Haryana via Delhi, increasing connectivity across the national capital. The new Phase IV project will significantly expand the feasibility of the deli metro network in NCR, which contributes to economic growth.
The widening of the red line will ease traffic congestion on the roads, leading to a reduction in vehicle pollution.

The fourth phase of the Delhi Railway expansion, totaling 65,202 km and 45 stations, is under construction. As of now, more than 56% of the construction projects have been completed. The Phase 4 corridor (3 priorities) is projected to be completed in March 2026.
Delhi Metro currently serves an average of 64 million passengers. The Delhi Railway Corporation (DMRC) operates a total of 12 subway lines spanning approximately 392 km with 288 stations in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
