There is something about evil The soundtrack will be out by the end of the year and sneaking into our Spotify Wrapped playlist, but that doesn't do the album justice. I know in a few weeks it will be at least a majority of the top spots in my rankings. Let’s be honest, with the release of Wrapped, everyone’s Wrapped rankings will probably improve even more this year Evil: Part Two.
With this in mind, we are working evil part one Music by Ariana Grande as Galinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, their voodoo frenemies love story propelled the development of this hit musical film. If you're in the same (theater) camp as those of us who've seen the movie multiple times, there's already a playlist of what we listen to when we're not in Nicole Kidman's AMC church. Whether you like it or not, there are favorites and there are not-so-favorite ones, but if you think this is an unskippable album, that's a good thing for you. However, here's our ranking from forgettable earworms to favorites evil soundtrack.
Well, we have to say… whisper The singing is not good. Loved Jeff Goldblum's performance as the wizard, but verbally slowed down an already minimally played entry in the musical score, making it even more lengthy for exposition purposes just as the action was about to begin.
Cynthia Erivo's vocals balance this out. However, the first act was definitely our first bathroom and snack break during the theater rewatch. For important exposition purposes, it is obviously important to listen to the first round. There is nothing to be afraid of.
The magic school is being upgraded; we need more of them. I can’t wait to walk through the Universal Studios theme parks and hear the live shows. Grande's note was eaten.
We mourn the wicked. Love the wordplay here, the crowd chanted “No one mourns the evil one” and Ariana Grande sang “No, there's no one mourns the evil one”, both meanings as the story unfolds with Glinda 's high notes played so strongly together.
We’ve all experienced the bittersweet moments of unrequited love. It's a nice soft song that showcases Elphaba's many charms, before Cynthia Erivo sings “Defying Gravity.”
we are still screaming (REDACTED) GUEST And try to memorize new lyrics.
“So You Think You Can Dance” is very long in the movie – it's basically a one-man show, but it really shines when Elphaba and Glinda have moments of connection. The “Ozdust Duet” instrumental is gorgeous and evokes all the feelings you get when you find someone who understands you.
Well, despite its length, Dance Your Life covers a variety of scenes, from the library to the quiet moments between characters we love singing along to (uh, Nessa? Hear Nessa? Nessa? Nessa?), all the way to A stunning ending. This is a really fun thing to shout out.
Elphaba's “I Want” is a powerful ballad that will be known for many more karaoke moments and sing-alongs for years to come.
This frenemy anthem became popular for its duet abilities and TikTok dance craze with Galinda and her Shiz crew (tapping their notebooks and stomping their feet). We know this because it's constantly rotated among all the other Reel and TikTok samples on our For You page.
Ariana Grande's performance of “Popular” as Galinda is unprecedented. It's infectious and bubbly, Correct? Thankfully, a shorter, dialogue-free edit of the broadcast has been released. Take a look above!
Give all the awards to Cynthia Erivo! Erivo's sheer talent as Elphaba further enhances the timelessness of “Defying Gravity.” The expanded version is our favorite, but the radio edit (above) will keep you feeling limitless when you need it.
